At age 64, I have been a chronic pain patient for more than half of my life. My dx. is rather complex. The short list includes degenerative joint and disc disease, osteoarthritis, failed back syndrome, fibromyalgia, sciatica, and dysautonomia. There are also a number of autoimmune disorders but who's counting, eh? I have had eight open spinal surgeries and am facing number nine.
I swore I would never go under the knife again on an elective basis but..........here we go. I will be having a spinal cord stimulator implanted in about a month or less. I see the surgeon on Thursday and he will already have the results from preliminary tests and we can discuss the battle plan. I was hoping this was going to be simple but it looks like that won't be the case......again. I may need two more disc/lammies before he even does the implant. There is no point in speculating right now so I better take it one day at a time.
I am trying to cook ahead and freeze so all I need to do when I get home is nuke. I thought I would cut back on all the pre-op cooking/freezing and rely on Stouffers more this time. It is a bit hard cooking from a wheelchair which I didn't have to deal with before. Forget that!!!! I just about flipped out when I saw the sodium count on the frozen meals. I just cooked a turkey and will strip it down when it cools. That will give me lots of one pound packs to freeze for soups and stir fries. I will do the same with a beef roast next week if I can find a good sale. After the surgery, I won't be able to use the oven for at least 6-8 weeks.
I live in a security senior/handicapped building and we are having our Thanksgiving feast tomorrow. The mgt. company is providing the turkey and ham. That's the least they can do after hitting us with our annual rent increase. Sigh. I am fixing a low sugar raspberry cheesecake as many of my neighbors are diabetic. I have chronic candida so I must watch the sugar anyhow. So much for today as I need to get in a more comfortable position.
